Gaining Value from The 2007 Indices of Deprivation in Lincolnshire

Introduction

The 2007 Indices of Deprivation is a valuable source of data for evaluating various measures of deprivation existing in small areas across the country. It is through the results of this study that many areas are identified as a priority for funding to improve the quality of life of their various populations. The Indices of Deprivation (ID) are used to create an overall Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), which provides an indicator of general deprivation levels across England.

The Index of Multiple Deprivation is produced by the Department for Communities and Local Government. The summary report for England is available from the DCLG website.

This toolkit has been developed by the Lincolnshire Research Observatory, and aims to support you in locating and understanding results from the 2007 Indices of Deprivation in Lincolnshire. In addition to gathering information on the background to this study and the methodologies used, you can download tables of results for Super Output Areas, find out more about how SOA's relate to alternative geographical boundaries and locate and present results using our interactive mapping tool. Please make your selection from the menu to the right-hand side of the page.

Note: Deprivation is mapped by Super Output Areas. You can find out more about what these areas are, and how they relate to more traditional boundaries with our quick guide.
